I Stopped Waiting for Days to Get Paid and Built on Arc

Simparc › why i built it, how i built it, where it's going

in 2019, i started selling digital products. cinematic, Viking-themed stock music. i uploaded everything to a platform and hoped buyers from around the world would find it. when i saw how difficult getting paid actually was, i didn't think too much about it. it kept working passively anyway. 12 sales, $223 total, buyers from Israel, Norway, South Africa, Canada, China and more. sounds good.

but the process of that money actually reaching my pocket is a completely different story.

the platform i used takes 50% of every sale. that number looks high at first, but after thinking about it for a long time, i didn't find it unfair. without the platform, i couldn't have reached a producer in Israel or a YouTuber in Norway. you're buying that global reach, they're covering the marketing costs.

but here's another way to look at it: what if i had spent that commission on advertising instead?

with AI this advanced, you can now handle everything far more efficiently, from SEO to content creation, from targeted advertising to conversion optimization. there are ways to build your own audience, establish trust, and create direct access. as long as you can build that trust, and now there are ways to do that too.

so the platform's 50% stops being a necessity. it becomes a choice.

the real problem: how does the money actually arrive?

forget the platform's cut for a moment. the real problem starts once the money is supposedly yours.

the payment system works like this: your earnings first accumulate as a balance in your account. if you've crossed the $50 minimum by the 8th of the month, that money gets paid out on the 15th. if you haven't crossed $50 by the 8th, it rolls over to the next month. when the payment is made on the 15th, a flat fee gets deducted. if it falls on a weekend or a public holiday, it shifts to the next business day. then a bank transfer, 2-3 business days. and if you're receiving in Turkey, the bank's exchange rate conversion takes its share too.

you're seeing 40-45% of the list price at best. in 2026. two options in theory: bank transfer or PayPal. i say in theory because PayPal doesn't work in Turkey. you can't even select it. one option remains: bank transfer, $3 flat fee, 2-3 business days, plus exchange rate loss on top.

and this isn't just about this one platform. it's the shared problem of everyone trying to work online and get paid from Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, Argentina. freelancer, content creator, online service provider, doesn't matter. you wait 15 days, sometimes it rolls over a month, someone takes a cut at every step.

a couple of months ago, when i started working in the @arc ecosystem, this thought got stuck in my head. @arc is a stablecoin-native L1 built by Circle. USDC is used as the gas token, sub-second deterministic finality, institutional players like BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and Coinbase are part of the ecosystem.

at some point i thought: why does a musician, a freelancer, a content creator in Turkey or anywhere else dealing with these payment difficulties, anyone getting paid for online work, why do they keep waiting 15 days, sometimes a month? why do they have to pay high commissions?

the technology already exists. the problem isn't technical. it's a product design problem.

i sketched the concept first. a freelancer shares a link, the client clicks it, makes a payment, the money arrives instantly. simple. but for it to actually work, the backend needed to be set up correctly.

the first problem was wallets. creating a separate wallet for each user, managing it, keeping it secure, writing this from scratch would have taken weeks. when i discovered Circle's Developer Controlled Wallets infrastructure, things became clear. every time a user signed up, their own non-custodial wallet was automatically created. Simparc never holds funds. payment goes directly to that wallet.

the second problem was login. telling someone who doesn't use crypto to "first download MetaMask, write down your seed phrase, then connect" is impossible. Dynamic SDK solved this. you sign in with Google or X, an MPC wallet gets created in the background. no seed phrase, no browser extension, nothing. you just sign in.

the third problem was the client side. a freelancer can receive crypto, but what does the client do? actually, if the client already uses crypto, it's simple, they send directly from their wallet, no need for Simparc at all. what Simparc solves is different: the client doesn't know crypto, has no USDC, has no wallet. they pay with a credit card. Ramp Network converts fiat to USDC in the background and sends it to the freelancer's wallet. the client just enters their card details. blockchain is invisible, unfelt.

the fourth problem was natural language. what should happen when someone types "pay 50 usdc to grimmo for logo design"? a Groq-based AI agent parses this command, extracts the amount and recipient, and initiates the payment flow. the user writes a normal sentence, not a terminal command.

putting all of this together wasn't easy. nights went by fighting type errors, wallet connection issues, chain ID mistakes. i even typed @arc testnet's chain ID wrong at first. but every error taught something and the system slowly fell into place.

a freelancer signs in with their Google or X account and chooses a username once. then it's simple: they send the simparc.me/username link to their client.

the client visits that link, enters an amount, and pays with a credit card. they don't need to know what blockchain is, what USDC is, what a wallet is. the system handles it in the background. the freelancer receives USDC within seconds and can withdraw whenever they want.

what happens in the background? the moment the client pays with their credit card, Ramp Network steps in and converts fiat to USDC. that USDC goes directly to the freelancer's Circle wallet. Arc settles this transfer in under a second, irreversibly. on the client side it looks like a regular bank transaction. on the freelancer side it's USDC that arrives instantly, without interruption, without exchange rate loss.

Circle runs the USDC infrastructure worldwide. your wallets are held in Circle's Developer Controlled Wallets infrastructure, the same infrastructure used by institutional financial applications. Simparc is not an intermediary. payment goes directly to the freelancer's wallet, not to Simparc's treasury. Arc provides deterministic finality. once a transaction is confirmed, it's final. no delay, no rollback. every payment step is recorded onchain, transparently and irreversibly.

a card built on Mastercard infrastructure that lets you spend your USDC directly. at restaurants, grocery stores, online shopping. you spend your USDC balance, the other party sees dollars. with Apple Pay and Google Pay integration, you'll be able to add Simpcard to your phone and make contactless payments. anywhere that accepts Mastercard, Simpcard works.

currently in waitlist phase. but the concept is simple: the money you earn as a freelancer converts directly into spending power without going through a bank account, without waiting for wire transfers, without exchange rate loss. you receive via Simparc, you spend with Simpcard. the loop is closed.

of course you don't have to stay tied to Simpcard. you can withdraw your balance to an external wallet whenever you want. Rabby, MetaMask, whatever you use. the USDC is yours, the wallet is yours, you decide what to do with it. Simparc never holds your funds.

one of the things on the roadmap is the trust problem. freelance work has a deep-rooted issue. client pays first, freelancer doesn't deliver. freelancer delivers first, payment never comes. Simparc currently builds around trust: the freelancer delivers the work and gets paid. or gets paid first and then does the work. classic freelance dynamics, just much faster and cheaper.

but this trust isn't always enough. the client might say "it wasn't delivered," the freelancer might say "payment never came." who decides who's right? the platform? the legal system? both are slow, both are expensive.

the ERC-8183 escrow standard is trying to bring this problem into code. funds are locked in a contract, released when the work is approved. there are timeout mechanisms and dispute processes. but whether the work was quality, whether it was truly delivered, code still can't fully answer that. for this part there are decentralized arbitration protocols like Kleros, but those aren't perfect either.

i'm still working on it. if done right, it will be possible to leave the trust problem between freelancer and client to code rather than to platforms.
