SUMMARY

Fund a Gateway Unified Balance from a slow-finality EVM chain without waiting for that chain's Gateway deposit finality.

In this Release Notes episode, HJ from Circle DevRel explains how chain finality shapes deposit latency, and how Fast Gateway Deposits in Unified Balance Kit and App Kit change the funding path.

Blockchains confirm transactions at different speeds. When you deposit USDC into a Gateway Wallet, that deposit is only usable after the deposit chain reaches finality, often around 13 to 19 minutes on Ethereum, Base, or Arbitrum.

A fast deposit can settle a crosschain USDC transfer within a minute: pass to and config.transferSpeed: "FAST", and the relayer handles the destination Gateway deposit.

This episode covers:

  • How chain finality affects Gateway deposit latency
  • Estimating gas and forwarder fees with estimateDeposit
  • Executing deposit and depositFor with a locked quote
  • Reading relay progress on the deposit result
