Hey Architects, I'm Rohit. I built MergePay because open source bounties always needed someone in the middle: a platform that holds the money, decides whether the merge counted, and pays out days later. Bountysource stopped paying out in 2023 while still holding funds, and that stuck with me.

MergePay removes the middle. Anyone escrows USDC on a GitHub issue. When the pull request that fixes it is merged, a pinned GitHub Action asks GitHub for a signed OIDC token (RS256) that says which repo, which workflow and which issue. A contract on Arc verifies GitHub's RSA signature on-chain with the modexp precompile, checks every claim, and pays the PR author.

What I tested on Arc mainnet (chain 5042), contract 0xcff79B144833b36ca53b310C1Ad7854AF9Ff9EeD:

My own test first: issue #1 funded, PR #2 merged at 07:56:18, award landed at 07:56:28. 0.47 USDC paid (a 0.50 bounty minus a 3 cent relayer fee).

Then the first payout to an outside contributor, yesterday: GitHub user khongten124 claimed issue #3 (an embeddable README badge), I merged their PR, and they had 0.47 USDC about 12 seconds later. I didn't send anything by hand. The transaction:

On cost: verifying a 2048-bit RSA signature takes about 660,000 gas. On Arc that's roughly 1 to 2 cents, which is what makes checking every single payout practical.

Why Arc specifically: USDC is the gas token, so a contributor with an empty wallet still gets paid and never needs a second token. Sub-second finality means the “paid” comment on the PR is a final receipt, not a pending transaction. And fees priced in dollars let funders set a flat relayer fee.

Honest limits: you still trust GitHub's signing keys (they're registered on-chain behind a 3-day timelock) and the maintainer's decision to merge. Bounties are small so far; this is early.
