An onchain balance can be visible and transferable at any time. That does not always mean the entire balance can be converted into USDC immediately under the same price, fee and liquidity conditions.

This distinction becomes important when Arc applications integrate yield-bearing real-world assets. A user may see a token balance and interpret it as fully liquid cash, while immediate redemption may depend on available liquidity, investor eligibility, applicable fees or operational limits.

A useful interface should separate at least two numbers:

the amount that can be redeemed into USDC immediately.

Before a redemption is submitted, the application could also show:

the price or NAV being used and when it was last updated;

the available instant-redemption capacity;

whether a partial redemption is possible;

the expected settlement path when immediate liquidity is insufficient.

This information should appear before confirmation, not only after a redemption fails or takes longer than expected.

The goal is not to make tokenized assets look less liquid. It is to prevent “available onchain” and “immediately redeemable as USDC” from being presented as the same promise when their conditions differ.
